Bound Water in Muscle
نویسنده
چکیده
1. The amount of free unfrozen water, i.e. water acting as normal solvent, in frog's muscle at temperatures below the initial freezing-point has been calculated from the vapour pressure isotherm of the muscle. 2. Significant amounts of free water are present at -20 degrees C. The total amount of unfrozen water at -20 degrees C. cannot, therefore, be taken as a measure of the bound water in muscle. 3. The calculated values of free water, when compared with experimentally determined values of total unfrozen water, indicate that the amount of bound water in muscle at various temperatures is small. 4. A temperature considerably below -20 degrees C., roughly between -40 degrees and -60 degrees C., is required to freeze completely the free water in muscle.

Irradiation effects on the bound water of mammalian tissues.
The effects of X-ray irradiation on the bound water of living tissues, such as rat muscle, liver tissue, red cells and mouse thymus tissue were studied by the vapor pressure method. The amount of bound water in various living tissues after irradiation changed appreciably from that in normal tissues. The experimental data were analyzed on the basis of the BET theory. The alteration in bound wate...
متن کاملAn Improvement in Cation Exchange Capacity Estimation and Water Saturation Calculation in Shaly Layers for One of Iranian Oil Fields
Water saturation and cation exchange capacity are the most significant parameters used to calculate a hydrocarbon zone potential. In clean formations, by applying the famous Archie model, which assumes that in the formation the only electric conductor is the formation water, the water saturation can be calculated. Additionally, in shaly sand formations this assumption may not be true as the ion...
متن کاملComparison of growth parameters, cortisol and muscle gene expression of rainbow trout reared in an open and water reuse system
Fish farming in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) has been expanding in the recent years, but the effects of water reuse are not well known. The aim of the present study was to compare the growth parameters, stress response and muscle stress- and growth- related gene expression of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in open system (OS) versus water reuse system (WRS). For this purpose, yo...

Aims and background: Patients with non-specific low back pain experience disorder in back motor control and trunk muscle endurance and these disorders are associated with pain in these patients. The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of motor control exercises, exercise in water, and combined exercises on back motor control and trunk muscle resistance in patients with chr...

Abstract Background & Objective: Non-specific chronic low back pain is the most common type of chronic low back pain in today's society and achieving a therapeutic exercise program has always been the focus of improvement in patients with non-specific chronic low back pain. The current study aims at investigating the effects of 4 weeks exercise in the water on the disability, flexibility, and...
